Polish Consul General visits Polish classes at the University High School Centre

Language learning opens doors to communication, cultural understanding and global opportunities

 

On Saturday, February 14, the VSL University High School Centre proudly welcomed the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Sydney, Mr. Piotr Rakowski, to the Victorian School of Languages.

Polish has been taught at the University High School Centre since 1986 and is offered F-12. The visit was a special occasion for our F-12 Polish language students and staff, highlighting the strong cultural and educational ties between Australia and Poland.

During his address, Consul General Rakowski spoke about the importance of maintaining language and cultural heritage in a globalised world. The visit provided students the opportunity to practise speaking Polish as they engaged directly with the Consul General, asking questions about diplomacy and international relations. Their participation reflected both their enthusiasm for learning Polish and their pride in being part of the Victorian School of Languages.

Consul General Rakowski emphasised the many benefits of studying Polish. He answered questions from both students and teachers, sharing insights into his diplomatic career and expressing his appreciation for living in Australia. His visit inspired some senior students to consider pursuing a diplomatic career in the future.

Students, along with their teachers, Ms. Kataryzna Skowronska and Ms. Irena Mitula, greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet the Consul General. We thank Consul General Rakowski for taking the time to visit and inspire our students. His message reinforced the value of language learning and encouraged our students to continue developing their skills and connection to the Polish language and culture.
