Day of the Romanian Language at VSL South East

On 30 August 2025, we celebrated the Romanian language — an ancient tongue that connects us through tradition and culture. The junior Romanian class met online with the children from the Sunday School of the Saint Apostle Philip Parish in Brisbane. Together, they recited poems, shared riddles, and enjoyed their time together.

Both classes had the privilege of meeting online with Laura Anişoara Mustețiu — a poet, writer, and journalist from Sydney — who honoured us by sharing with the VSL students what the Romanian language means to her, how she continued writing across oceans, and how her books have reached some of the world’s most prestigious libraries.

We hope this day has sparked in our children’s hearts a love of Romanian culture and instilled in them respect for the language that shapes their identity. It was a moment of learning and a tribute to the language that unites us, even in the most distant corners of the world.
